About this concept

A concept for LIXIL Pro

The right spec. On site. One tap.

Snap or pick the product. Get the rough-in, the install step you’re on, the part number and a clean note for the office, all from LIXIL’s own documents, always with the page it came from. The pro checks it before anything is sent.

Why this one

Measure once, cut once. The same goes for the spec.

I spent 15+ years on job sites in Toronto: finish carpenter and foreman with up to ten carpenters, then co-running a renovation company with many projects going at the same time. I’m not a plumber. But I know the moment this is for.

A pro is mid-install, hands dirty, phone in a back pocket. The box is in the dumpster, the install sheet is somewhere under the drywall dust, and one number decides whether the wall closes today. That pro doesn’t need a website. They need one answer they can trust, and the page it came from.

The flow, in four taps

  1. Snap or pick. Photo of the product or the box label, or pick it from the LIXIL Pro project.
  2. Confirm the match. The pro says yes before anything else happens.
  3. Get the answer with its source. Rough-in, the install step, part numbers, fixes, word for word from the document.
  4. Send a clean note. To the office or the homeowner. Drafted for them, sent only when they say so.

Real in this prototype

  • Three products currently sold on americanstandard.ca (checked 2 Nov 2026): Flash® RU101 valve, Studio® S shower trim TU105507, Champion® PRO toilet 211BA104.020.
  • Every quoted line, word for word, from LIXIL’s spec sheets, install guides and product pages, with the page number.
  • The drawings, cropped from those PDFs. The part numbers and finish codes, from the guides’ parts pages.
  • Where two documents disagree, it says so.

Pre-written for the demo

  • The photo match (you choose what the camera sees).
  • The short answers above each quote, and the drafted notes.
  • Questions: the ones shown, plus simple keyword matching when you type.
  • Sending: nothing is sent anywhere.

A live version would use a model grounded only in LIXIL’s catalogue and documents: it answers with the page it used, says “not in the documents” when it isn’t, and never sends without the pro’s tap. It would sit inside LIXIL Pro, next to the project the pro already built.
